Terms of use
Plain words. The short version is enough for the beta; a fuller version comes at public launch.
The site
SubtitleCenter is a free, open source (AGPL-3.0), community run archive of subtitles for films and series. It hosts subtitle files only. It does not host video and does not link to video. Film and series data comes from TMDB; this product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Contributions
Subtitles on the site are community contributions credited to their translators. By uploading you allow the site to store, show and distribute the file to anyone, free, with your credit on it. You promise to keep the original translator's credit on anything you resync or correct, and to label machine translations. You may remove your own files at any time from your panel.
Conduct
The rules are part of these terms. Accounts that strip credits, spam, or upload files that break the rules are warned, then suspended. Automated access follows the API terms: identify your tool, respect the limits, show the uploader's credit.
Accounts
You may close your account at any time. Your contributions stay, credited to the translator named on them; your account details are deleted. See privacy.
No warranties
The site is provided as is. Files are checked automatically and by volunteers, and can still be wrong, out of sync, or mislabelled. The site is not liable for what a file contains or what you do with it, to the extent the law allows.
Changes
These terms may change; changes are announced on the site with notice before they apply.
